Here at Louisvale Wines, we’re about more than just the art of Chardonnay. We also know how important it is to celebrate inclusivity, growth and the wonderfully diverse world we call home. With August being ‘Women’s Month’, we wanted to treat some of the women in the wine blogging industry to a delicious lunch at the heart of the Louisvale family, our winery in Devon Valley, Stellenbosch. The #LVWinesWomensDayOut 2019 was a huge success – in fact, we’d go so far as to say it was a WINE-derful day out!

Kicking off to a bubbly start

With summer already in the air, the 15th of August 2019 gave us the perfect weather to celebrate some of Cape Town’s favourite ladies as well as enjoy the delicious foods at Louisvale. We were honoured to be joined this year by some of Cape Town’s top wine super-bloggers: Lisa (Polka Dots n Wine), Robyn (Little Bits of Ruby), Abby (One Stiletto at a Time), Jenna (The Social Needia), Omphi (Hey Omphi), Danelle Joubert, Paige Fouché  and Micaela de Gouveia.

Nestling along the Stellenbosch Wine Route, the Devon Valley in Stellenbosch offers visitors a shady, peaceful view with gorgeous vistas at every turn. Where better to kick off the day then on the Louisvale patio with some gorgeous canapés and our two bubblies to salute a gorgeous afternoon?

Down to business

It may have been a celebration of All Things Woman, but these hard-hitting trendsetters were keen to mix a little business with pleasure, too. Under the guiding eye of Muhammad, our resident wine expert, the ladies took a tour through the winery before getting to grips with a spectacular tasting of the full 11-wine Louisvale range. Needless to say, our famed 2017 Chardonnay was a popular pick, proving Louisvale remain the pioneers of Chardonnay in South Africa.

Food at Louisvale – flavour, fun and friendship

A great wine makes good food even better, and the food at Louisvale is carefully chosen to complement every sip. The ladies were treated to some of the very best Mouton and Kirstie, the masterminds behind the cuisine at Louisvale, have to offer. Our meat lovers enjoyed a pan-fried ostrich steak while our vegetarians tucked into our famous lentil and cashew cabbage parcels. Each main was served with sweet potato puree, mushrooms and green beans, delicately balanced with fragrant toasted almonds for extra depth and taste.

But where would any celebration be without a delectable dessert? Our special tasting platter offered a white chocolate and pistachio log, home-made truffle trio and blondie squares, paired perfectly with the Louisvale 5 Barrel wine.  The ladies also had the chance to catch up with Simon, our resident Winemaker, and learn more about the flavoursome Louisvale ranges.

What a delightful day of wine and womanhood! We at Louisvale Wines, home of the Art of Chardonnay, were absolutely thrilled to be able to host this wonderful event to celebrate some of Cape Town’s best and brightest female talent. We look forward to seeing you again soon, ladies!
