The original Louisvale vineyard is 13
hectares, planted solely with Chardonnay.
In fact, Louisvale was one of the pioneers of
Chardonnay in South Africa.
Louisvale purchased the neighbouring 13 hectare
property, Nooitgedacht, in 2002. Fortuitously, this land
had recently been planted with Shiraz, Merlot and
Cabernet Sauvignon.
This red wine vineyard produced its first substantial
crop in 2003. Some grapes will still need to be bought
in, but in the mid-term it should be possible to produce
the core Louisvale range from estate grown fruit.
